For OSHC members living in Melbourne

Allianz Care Australia is committed to improving the lives of our members and offering increased choice and options for care. We are pleased to offer a private maternity package for Allianz Care Australia – Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) members who live in Melbourne.

The Maternity Package Model offers members living in Melbourne the option of experiencing a private Maternity Package with the choice of two leading obstetricians and private hospital birthing experience whilst having only minimal ‘out of pocket’ costs.

To be eligible to participate, Allianz Care Australia OSHC members need to:

Live in Melbourne or surrounding areas
Have served any pregnancy waiting periods under the OSHC policy (if required)
Have a referral from their GP

Who are the obstetricians available in the program?

Dr Colin Sabau

Dr Sabau is an experienced Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with 20 years of specialist training both in Europe and Australia. As an obstetrician, Dr Sabau is involved in the antenatal care of both low and high-risk pregnancies. He speaks English, French and Romanian. Dr Anne Tan

Dr Tan is a highly experienced medical specialist who qualified at Flinders University in 1997. She completed her postgraduate qualifications in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists from the UK in 2003. Dr Tan has over 20 years experience with qualifications from the post graduate colleges of both the UK and Australia. She is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Malay. What is included in the Melbourne Maternity Package?

The Melbourne Maternity Package model will cover most costs associated with your pregnancy, including:

Maternity package including antenatal care, birthing and after birth care from either Dr Colin Sabau or Dr Anne Tan
Accommodation and birthing charges at a Private Hospital where Dr Sabau or Dr Anne Tan is accredited
Standard ultrasounds and blood-tests during your pregnancy up to 85% of the MBS fee
other specialists costs when you are in hospital up to 100% of the MBS fee

Potential costs to the member

There are some costs which will be payable by the member during the program. These include:

Any ‘out of pocket fees’ payable for anaesthetics, paediatrics and intensive specialist fees (if required and charged above the MBS fee for the birth);
Any fees charged by your GP above the MBS fee;
Antenatal education classes;
Ancillary hospital costs such as pay television or internet access charges.

How do I find out more or participate in the program?

If you are pregnant and have served the applicable OSHC policy waiting period (12 months for OSHC Standard policyholders and a nil wait for OSHC Essentials policyholders), you can participate in the program by obtaining a referral from your regular GP to either Dr Sabau or Dr Tan for maternity care.
