Condition 8501 requires you to obtain, as well as maintain adequate health insurance to help cover medical costs if you get sick or injured or need medical help while you are in Australia.
You must purchase your health insurance before you arrive in Australia, and you must provide proof of health insurance to the Department of Home Affairs.
The conditions that apply to your visa will be listed on the visa grant notification you receive from the Department of Home Affairs, under the heading Visa Conditions.
As the visa holder, it is your responsibility to ensure you always meet all the conditions of your visa while you are in Australia.
If you don’t meet the condition 8501 visa requirements your visa application could be denied, or your visa may be cancelled.
If you are unsure of what conditions apply to your visa, visit the Department of Home Affairs website to check visa details and conditions or refer to your visa grant notification.
